2 1/2 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1/4 lb butter, 1 1/2 cups buttermilk, 1 cup raisins, 1 tbsp caraway seeds (optional)

Cream butter and sugar. Beat together eggs and buttermilk. Mix dry ingredients. Alternate dry and wet ingredients, beating until well mixed. Place dough in greased bread pan 3/4 filled. Bake 1 hour at 350º.
