2 C sugar
pinch of salt
2 C white karo syrup (some do dark)
When this is thick, add:
½ C butter
candy thermometer
1 large can condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Boil first 5 ingredients in heavy saucepan stirring occasionally. Gradually add 1 large can of condensed milk, little by little making sure the mixture is still boiling. Stir constantly until it makes a firm ball or until the temp is 242 degrees, has to be a caramel color. Add 1 tsp vanilla, stir. Pour into a greased jellyroll pan. Let cool a little, then cut into 1 X 2 squares. When cool enough to handle, roll and wrap into wax paper.
