4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 2/3 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
4 eggs
1 quart buttermilk
8 - 10 tbsp mild oil (can use melted butter as well)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift and measure flour, soda, baking powder, sugar and salt.Separate 4 eggs. Beat in separate bowl until light the 4 egg yolks. Add quart buttermilk and oil and beat. Combine liquid and dry ingredients with few swift strokes.
Beat until stiff but not dry - 4 egg whites. Fold them into batter.
