Cake:
1 c. margarine or butter
2 eggs
¼ c. baking cocoa
1 c. cold water
½ c. buttermilk (can use 2 Tbsp. vinegar, then add milk to make ½ c.)
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. Soda
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Frosting:
½ c. margarine or butter
16 oz. pkg. Confectioners sugar
¼ c. milk
1/8 tsp. Salt
¼ c. baking cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Cake:
Bring butter, cocoa and water to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Into a mixing bowl, pour sifted mixture of flour and sugar, mixing well with cocoa mixture.
Blend in eggs.
Add vanilla and mixture of buttermilk and soda, mixing well.
Pour into greased 11 x 15 pan.
Bake at 400º for 25 – 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
Spread warm chocolate frosting over hot cake.

Frosting:
Bring butter, milk and cocoa to a boil in a 2-quart saucepan.
Remove from heat.
Stir in confectioners sugar gradually.
Add salt and vanilla, mixing well.
Have frosting ready just as cake comes out of the oven or it will be hard.
