Cook 1 pound of dates pitted and chopped with 1 C sugar and 1 C water to consistency of jam. Mix together 1/2 C oleo
1 C brown sugar
1 1/2 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 3/4 C oatmeal

Directions:
Press mixed ingredients into 9" x 13" pan reserving 1 C for topping. Spread date mixture over crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.
