1 1/2 cup flour, 1 3/4 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/3 cup shortening, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup chopped apple, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon

In large cowl, combine flour, baking powder 1/2 cup sugar and nutmeg. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until crumbly. Combine beaten egg with milk and apple; mix well and add to first mixture. just until blended Spoon into 12 greased muffing pans and fill 2/3 full. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt butter and set aside, Combine sugar and cinnamon - mix well. As soon as the "doughnuts "are done, remove from pans and roll each one in sugar mixture, coating evenly. Let cool.
