1 cup milk
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 cube margarine
1/2 cup molases
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 pkg. dry yeast
2 cup rye flour
white flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of the warm water. Add the remainder of the water to the milk. Add the salt, margarine, molasses and brown sugar. Add the yeast mixture. Stir in the rye flour and enough white flour to make a good dough. Pour out on floured board and knead for about ten minutes. Place ball of dough in greased bowl and let rise until doubled. Punch down. Let rise 1/2 hour more. Form into loaves and let rise. Bake 40-45 minutes at 375 degrees. The recipe makes two loaves.

This recipe was given to me many years ago by a close friend's mother. It is a family favorite. I gave the recipe to a young girl and she won a blue ribbon at the King County Fair in July 1977.
