2 C Bran
1 C Boiling water Pour over bran and let cool

1/2 C shortening
1 C brown sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 C molasses
2 C buttermilk
2 1/2 C flour
2 1/2 t baking soda
1 t salt
1 C raisins - opional

Directions:
Directions:
Pour boiling water over Bran and let cool

Cream together shortening, brown sugar, eggs, and molasses in a large bowl.

Add Buttermilk to Bran mixture andlet set

Add remaining ingredients to shortening mixture.

Add Bran mixture to shortening mixture.

Bake at 375º- 400º for 15 to 20 minutes
