Yellow cake mix (or chocolate)

5 Tbs flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Bake yellow or chocolate cake mix as directed in 9X13 pan. In saucepan, boil the flour and milk until thick, stirring constantly. Set aside to cool. Beat until fluffy, sugar, salt, Crisco, margarine and vanilla. Add the cooled milk mixture and beat again until fluffy. Cut cake layerwise and put filling between two layers.

I use twinkie filling to fill cupcakes. Mom 's variation is adding raspberry jam on top of filling between cake layers.
