2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. finely diced apples
Topping:
1 c. brown sugar
2 T. soft butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add. Batter is so stiff you can hardly work in last of flour. Add apples and mix well. Spoon into greased and floured 9x12 pan. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Serve with whipped cream
