1 1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. Spry (shortening)
1 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
1 c. black walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar, beat in egg. Add applesauce and stir. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into mixture. Add raisins and nuts. Pour into 2 round 9 in. cake pans. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 to 50 min. Cool and frost with with Brown Sugar Icing.
