3 tsp vanilla
3 c. Flour
1/2 tsp baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, sugar; beat in egg, add vanilla. Sift flour and baking powder together and add to mixture to form soft dough. Chill dough for several hours. Form cookies by hand, or roll very thin (1/16”) and cut in desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 5-7 min.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Aunt Violet would divide the dough into four parts, adding a different food coloring to each part. We would spend hours forming wreaths, candy canes and Christmas trees. It was just like playing with modeling clay, but better ‘cause you got to eat your finished project! (Debbie Gerwick)
