2 T. sugar
1/2 pt. sour cream
dash of cider vinegar
1 sliced onion
3 peppercorns
1 bay leaf
2 large jars of herring fillets (drained and rinsed throw out the onions that come in the jar)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and place in a covered jar; marinate in the refrigerator for at least one week.
