5 cups chicken broth
3 ½ cups water
1 large celery stalk
1 large carrot chopped
½ cup onion, chopped
1 tsp. garlic (fresh or crushed from a jar)
¼ tsp. thyme
¼ tsp. white pepper
½ cup barley
10 oz. dried split peas

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients except the barley and split peas into a pot over high heat. When it comes to a boil add barley and split peas. Reduce heat and cook until grains are softened. Serves 6–8. Recipe can be doubled or tripled!!
