TIP: Softening Cream Cheese
Cream cheese must be softened before combining with other ingredients, or there will be small lumps of cream cheese throughout the finished product. To soften cream cheese, unwrap it and microwave at 50 percent power for 1–2 minutes, then let stand for 5 minutes. Or let it stand at room temperature for 45 minutes before using.
