1 pkg dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup molasses
1 tbsp shortening
1 tsp salt
2 tsp caraway seeds
1/2 tsp anise
1 tbsp grated orange rind
1 1/2 cups hot water
4-4 1/2 cups flour
2 cups rye flour

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in warm water and let stand for 5-10 minutes. Place in large bowl brown sugar, molasses, shortening, salt, caraway seeds, anise and orange rind. Pour hot water over all and set aside until lukewarm. Then blend in 1 cup white flour and yeast mixture. Add 3-3/12 cups flour, 2 cups rye flour. Mix well and knead. Then let dough sit for 10 minutes. Let rise until double and punch down. Shape into loafs and Place into 2 bread loaf pans. Bake at 325º for 50-60 minutes or until done
