2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 egg yolks
2 T. cold water
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. In another bowl, cream shortening sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, water and vanilla.
Measure 1/4 c. milk; add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture, blend well. Spread in creamed mixture. Blend well. Spread in greased and floured 15x10 pan.
Beat 2 egg whites until stiff but not dry. Add 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar a little at a time. Beat well after each addition. Spread over cookie dough and sprinkle with 1 c. chopped nuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cut while warm.
