1 C shortening
2 C brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 C buttermilk
3 1/2 C sifted flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 C chopped pecans
2 C candied cherries OR pineapple chunks
2 C chopped dates

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, shortening and eggs; stir in buttermilk. Add soda, salt and flour before adding fruit and nuts. Chill mixture for one hour. Drop by teaspoon onto prepared cookie sheet. Place pecan half on top of each; bake at 400º for 8-10 minutes.
