Ingredients:  
6 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup minced onions
7 slices of bread (cut in cubes) I use Arnold.
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
2 large cans of whole tomatoes
2 small cans of stewed tomatoes
Cheddar cheese, shredded
Topping:
1/2 cup of bread crumbs
2 tbsp. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Drain tomatoes. Use tomatoes only.
Saute onions in butter.
Mix salt, pepper and sugar with bread cubes.
Mix with sautéed onions.
Grease 2 quart casserole dish or suitable baking dish.
Arrange layer of tomatoes, bread cube mixture, sprinkle with cheese. Repeat layer.
Sprinkle with bread crumb topping.
Bake 1/ 1/2 hours at 350º
