3/4 cup softened shortening/butter (use half of each)
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla (try lemon extract for a change)
2 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
Dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Chill at least 1 hour or overnight. Heat oven 350º. Roll out cookies 1/8 in. thick. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake about 8-10 minutes. Cookies will turn a golden yellow, Be careful, easy to overbake. Remove, allow to cool and decorate as desired.
