"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

40 asparagus spears, trimmed (about 2 pounds)
cooking spray
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
2 tbsp. butter (margarine won't work)
2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. balsamic vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Arrange asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake at 400º for 12 minutes or until tender. Near the end of the 12 minute baking time, melt the butter in a small pan over medium heat, swirling the butter constantly, cooking for about 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from heat and stir in soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. Drizzle over the baked asparagus. Serve immediately.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Many times I've heard people say "I hate asparagus". When coaxed to "just try it this way", nine out of ten times they've decided maybe they really do like asparagus!
