2 1/4 cups sifted White Lily Flour
3 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sweet milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar, set aside. Cream shortening; add eggs, and half of milk then dry mixture slowly. Beat two minutes adding remaining milk. Mix well and bake in 2 9 inch pans well greased. 350º about 30 mins.

For Butterscotch cake increase salt to 1 1/4 teaspoon and 1 1/2 cup brown sugar.
