1 1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup quick oats
1 stick butter
Pour boiling water over oats and add butter. Cover for 10- 20 minutes.

Stir together:
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. salt and soda
1 teas. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs, well beaten
Add to oatmeal mixture.

Icing for Oatmeal cake:
1/2 cup cream
4 tablespoons butter or 1/2 stick margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup coconut
Nuts, optional

Directions:
Let stand while measuring dry ingredients into sifter, flour, sugar, cinnamon salt, soda, adn sift once. Mix oatmeal batter, add eggs and vanilla. Beat to mix well then add the dry ingredients to mixture. Bake in geased prepared baking dish.
Icing:
Mix 1/2 c. cream with brown sugar and coconut, vanilla. Spread on cake put in oven and broil until brown.
