1 (12 oz.) bag chocolate chips
1 c. sugar
5 T. water
2 cubes butter
3/4 c. almonds, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, water and butter in a large, heavy saucepan. Bring to boil and temperature of 280º. Stir in one direction only. Wash down sides of pan with hot water and pastry brush 2 or 3 times while mix is cooking. Mixture should be golden brown. Pour onto greased cookie sheet. Place in freezer for about 15 minutes until set. Melt chocolate chips while mixture is in the freezer. Let cool slightly and spread over toffee. Immediately sprinkle with chopped almonds while chocolate is still soft. Replace in freezer and later break into pieces. Store in an air-tight container.

After I graduated from high school I worked as an aide at Central Elementary School (where I went to grade school on Fleck Rd. in Veneta). I got this recipe at our 1974 staff Christmas party and have made it ever since.
