1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 T. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Combine shortening, sugar and eggs in a large bowl. Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt in another bowl. Pour the dry mixture into the creamed mixture and combine. Chill dough in refrigerator. Mix 2 T. sugar and 2 tsp. of cinnamon in a small bowl or saucer. Roll chilled dough into 1" balls and then roll into cinnamon, sugar mixture.

Bake at 400 º 8-10 minutes
Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies

Grandma Sadie Daniels gave us girls a "Springfield School's Best Recipes" cookbook for Christmas in 1973. These snickerdoodle cookies are absolutely the best I have ever tasted!
