1 cup shortening (Crisco)
2 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup shredded coconut
1 tsp soda
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup white sugar
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups sliced candy orange slices

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and both white and brown sugar together. Add eggs.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, soda
and add to creamed mixture.
Add in oatmeal and shredded coconut.
Add in orange slices.
Form into balls and flatten slightly with floured fork.
Lightly grease baking sheet.
Bake in 350º oven for 12-15 minutes. Don't overbake.

Candy orange slices can be cut using kitchen scissors. Dipping the scissors in hot water makes this easier.
