2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
1/4 tsp. red food color
1/4 c. crushed peppermint

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour, salt, butter, powdered sugar, egg, vanilla, and peppermint. Divide dough in half and add color and crushed peppermint into one half. Chill in refrigerator for 4 hours or more. Roll into ropes. Twist one red rope and one white rope together gently and form a cane. You can also roll each color out into a rectangle. Place one color rectangle on top of the other and roll like a jelly roll. Slice 1/4 inch round pinwheel cookies and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350º.
