3 cups sugar
1 Cup evaporated milk
1/2 lb. chopped dates
1 cup nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Place sugar, milk and dates in a pan and boil until the mixture forms a ball in water. Remove from heat. Add pecans and vanilla. Divide the mixture into 2 portions, placing the hot mixture onto 2 damp cloths. Manipulate into a log about 1 1/4 inch in diameter. Wrap the cloth wrapped candy into waxed paper and chill. Remove the cloth from the candy after it has cooled. Store in waxed paper until ready to slice. Slice into serving sized rounds of candy.
