1 package of yeast
1 1/2 cups of lukewarm water
1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar
3/4 teaspoons of salt
4 cups of flour
1 egg, beaten, for brushing pretzels before cooking
coarse salt

Directions:
Directions:
Whisk the yeast into the warm water with sugar added, and let stand until bubbly. Mix the yeast mixture, salt and flour and knead into a dough until smooth and elastic. Roll the dough into logs and form into pretzels. Sprinkle a bit of flour on a cookie sheet and place the pretzels on it. Brush the pretzels with beaten egg and allow to rise a bit. Sprinkle pretzels with coarse salt and bake at 400 F for 15 minutes (or until golden.) Serve warm, perhaps with a drizzle of mustard.
