Notes: This is the classic and basic Macaroni and Cheese recipe and it is so much better than the crap in a box!. It can be changed up and customized very easily! Sometimes I use sharp cheddar instead of American cheese, and substitute 1 cup of sour cream for one cup of the milk. I have added leftover ham. I generally don't do the bread crumb topping opting for sliced fresh tomatoes instead. Try adding a small can of diced tomatoes that have been well drained, delicious. I have also put breakfast sausage links on top when I have baked it and speaking of baking, if you're in a hurry or just want a creamier product, skip the baking and eat it moist and creamy straight from the pan!
