1 peck tomatoes
8 large onions
8 hot peppers
1 cup salt
1 quart vinegar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. allspice
3 lbs. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Peel tomatoes. Chop or grind onions and peppers. Mix together with salt and let stand overnight. Next morning put in colander or cheesecloth bag and let drain 2 hours. Put in kettle and add vinegar, spices, sugar and cook quickly until thick; about 45 minutes. Put in jars and seal. Makes about 5 pints.

This was a recipe in my Gramma Drabert's recipe box that was given to her by Gladys Legacy. Gladys and Lou lived nearby on what we used to refer to as the crossover road or the shortcut road. It is now known as Akins Road. It connects East Branch and West Branch Fishing Creek Roads.
