1 tbsp shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk
4 cups self rising flour
powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together flour and sugar. Set aside. Mix 2 eggs with vanilla, milk, and shortening. Slowly add in flour and sugar mixture mixing as you add it in. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil and fry until they are golden brown (about 40 seconds). Drain on paper towel. Place powdered sugar into gallon ziplock bag. Add 5-10 doughnuts and shake well to coat in powdered sugar mixture.

This was my grandmother's recipe. She hand wrote it for me and dated it 4-12-1990. This was a special treat she often made when I visited her home for the summer.
