Directions:You will need a broad bottomed sauce pan and a lid. Open your can of veggies and drain into the pan. add the remaining ingredients and put on the stove on a med-high setting. You want to boil down this mixture until it has thickened somewhat, to the consistency of heavy cream. Add the veggies, cover and reduce heat to low. In 5 minutes give your veggies a quick stir so that the "sauce" is evenly distributed and you will have delicious, palatable canned vegetables! |

Notes: I know this is basic stuff but this is how Mom (Bea Hanson) taught me to make canned vegetables and everyone always loves them! Do you know how many people just dump the can in a bowl and nuke them? It's appalling! Frozen vegetables are great but there's just something about canned veggies that bring back the old days when frozen ones were a treat, not to mention that canned goods are much less expensive!
When I was the Executive Chef at Cornell College I occasionally did canned vegetables this way and the kids raved! Try it you'll like it!
