2 c sugar
1 c shortening
1 tsp vanilla
6 eggs
1 tsp salt
2 c sifted flour
1 small can coconut

Coconut Sauce:
1 c sugar
1/2 c water
2 tsp coconut flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add vanilla and butter flavoring. Add eggs one at a time and mix well. Add Flour and salt. Fold in coconut. Grease pan and dust with flour (I use a spring form pan with insert). Bake for 1 hour at 325º.

Prepare coconut sauce about 5 minutes before cake is done. Mix and boil all ingredients for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Pour over cake, return cake to oven for 5 minutes. Remove cake from oven. Store in an air tight container. Let cake cure 2-3 days before serving.
