2 Cups sifted Martha White Self-rising Flour
1/4 cup shortening
about 3/4 cup milk
(for buttermilk biscuits: substitute about 1 cup of buttermilk less 2 tablespoons)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat over to 475ºF, Hot oven

Put sifted flour into bowl. Add shortening and cut in until all particles are as fine as coarse meal.

Add milk and mix quickly with a fork.

Turn dough out on lightly floured board of pastry cloth.
Knead, roll out and cut with floured cutter, place on baking sheet and back 10 to 12 minutes.

For dumplings: 1/3- 51/2T butter, 1 egg and the above directions. Then cut in 1 inch square, 1/2 inch thick.
