1 large onion, finely chopped
1 T. Butter or olive oil
34 c. soft bread crumbs
3/4 c. milk
1 lb. finely ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork or turkey
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 c. milk, warm
flour
2 c. stock or consomme
sour cream (optional)

Cook onion, in oil. Soak bread crumbs and 3/4 c. milk; combine with onions, meats, eggs and seasonings. Mix well. Gradually beat in warm milk, adding as much milk as the mixture will absorb. Chill. Form into about 12 egg shape meatballs. Flatten meatballs slightly. Heat together in oil. Brown meatballs and drain. Sprinkle with flour and pour in stock or consomme. Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. You can add sour cream at end of cooking.
