MIX AND SET ASIDE:
4 LARGE GRANNY SMITH APPLES, SLICED
2 TSP CINNAMON
5 TBSP SUGAR

BLEND AND SET ASIDE:
3 CUPS FLOUR
2 1/2 CUPS SUGAR
3 TSP BAKING POWDER
1/2 TSP SALT

BLEND:
1 CUP OIL
1/ 4 CUP ORANGE JUICE
4 EGGS
2 1/2 TSP VANILLA

Directions:
MIX WET INGREDIENTS WITH DRY INGREDIENTS UNTIL SMOOTH. BATTER WILL BE VERY THICK AND HEAVY. SPRAY TUBE PAN WITH COOKING SPRAY. POUR A LAYER OF BATTER, THEN A LAYER OF THE APPLE MIXTURE, REPEAT, ENDING WITH APPLES ON TOP. BAKE AT 350º FOR 1 3/4 HOURS. LET COOL AND TURN OUT ONTO CAKE PLATE.

THIS IS JAKE'S FAVORITE. I MAKE IT FOR HIS BIRTHDAY OR WHEN HE HELPS HAUL HAY, ETC. IT'S THE LEAST THAT I CAN DO FOR HIM, BLESS HIS HEART. AND, I DON 'T KNOW WHY IT'S A JEWISH CAKE.
