Mix together:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk*
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Add:
3 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa

Mix well and slowly add:
1 cup hot water

* In place of buttermilk, put 3 tbsp. vinegar in measuring cup and add enough milk to bring to 1 cup mark.

Can be baked in cupcake pans, cookie sheet, or bundt pan. Grease well.

Bake at 350º - 17 min. for cupcakes, 21 min. for cookie sheet and 35 min. or so for bundt pan.

Can use yogurt in place of half of the milk.

Stir in chocolate chips for bundt cake if desired - very rich chocolate!
