Ingredients:
4 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
10 cups water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
7 quarts sliced apples

Directions:
Cook the first 6 ingredients until thick, then add the lemon juice. Pour over the apples. Place in jars and put in hot water bath for 20 minutes. Don't fill completely to the top of the jars or it will bubble out when processing. You can also use peaches in this recipe. This is good right out of the jar or use it to make a pie, a cobbler, on ice cream or with a crunch topping.
