2 cups All Purpose Flour
2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp ginger
3/4 cup butter.
1 cup sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1/4 cup Brer Rabbit Molasses (Gold Label)
1 cup Sun-Maid Seedless Raisins (optional)
Sugar to dip cookies in.

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Beat well. Blend in raisins (optional) and dry ingredients; mix thoroughly. If desired, chill dough for easier handling.

Shape dough into balls, using a rounded teaspoonful for each; dip in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, sugar-side up.

Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 12 minutes.

The only time I ever got these was when it snowed in Texas. That didn't happen very often. After playing in the snow, I would come inside and Mom would have these cookies and homemade hot chocolate ready for me.
