Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 c sugar
1 c light corn syrup
3/4 c water
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 c broken nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Place in saucepan over low heat, sugar, corn syrup and water. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then cook without stirring to 255º (a little dropped into cold water forms a hard ball) Remove from heat and pour, beating constantly in a fine stream into the 3 beaten egg whites. Continue beating until mixture holds its shape and loses its gloss (about 5 minutes). Add vanilla and 1 cup broken nuts. Drop quickly from tip of spoon onto waxed paper in individual peaks or pour in a buttered pan (9x9) and cut into 1" squares when firm.

Personal Notes:
I remember that mom would also make this with cherries instead of the nuts. She would drain and chop maraschino cherries and add with the vanilla.
