3 c flour 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 c. milk 1 t vanilla
¼ t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter together! Sift together flour, baking powder & salt (2 or 3 times).
I put vanilla into milk, add dry mixture and milk to creamed sugar and butter. Beat well after each addition. Stir in chopped nuts, whip egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold egg whites into the mixture but do not beat. Cook in a tube pan greased and lined with brown paper for about 275 to 325 degrees oven. Each oven is different so keep it medium heat. If oven is inclined to be too hot, put a pan of water on upper rack. Watch closely. Cook for 1 ½ hours! Insert a straw or tooth pick to test for readiness.
