1/2 cup of shortening
3/4 cup of brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup of flour
1/2 tsp of cinnamon,salt
1/4 tsp of allspice,nutmeg,cloves
1/1/2 cup or raisins, nuts,dates or any candied fruit of your choice

Cream shortening, sugar - add egg and beat well. Add all the other ingredients and mix well. Drop on to a cookie sheet and bake at 375º for 12-15 minutes
