1 cup butter = 1/2 pound
4 eggs, separated
2 cup sugar
3 cups flour, sifted
3 t baking powder
1 cup milk
1 t vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until lemon-colored. Add beaten egg yolks one at a time. Sift flour with baking powder. Add flour mix alternately with milk. Beat 2 minutes. Add vanilla. Beat egg whites until they stand in stiff peaks. Fold egg whites into batter. Bake at 350: 1 hour for loaf cake, longer for angel food pan, less for 3 layers.
