1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shorting
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 molasses (I use black strap)
2 eggs lightly beaten
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
additional white sugar for dipping rolled balls in

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter, shorting and sugar until light color and fluffy, then beat in molasses and eggs.
2. In another bowl combine dry ingredients mix well then add to cream mixture.
3. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls dip top into sugar, put on an ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 11 min.

DO NOT OVER BAKE unless you want hard cookies. I like these soft, so very important to only bake for 11 min. Keep in seal container for softness. Makes 5 to 6 dozen.
