5 cups hot water
1/2 c. potato flakes
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. powdered milk
2T. salt
1/2 c. oil or shortening
2 T. yeast
10-14 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine hot water, shortening, potato flakes, powdered milk, sugar. Stir to dissolve shortening. When temperature is tepid, add yeast. Mix 5 cups of flour and the salt. Stir to a smooth sponge. add flour to make a smooth and elastic dough. Let rise until doubble, about 45 minutes, punch down and let rise again. Shape into loaves, let rise. Bake 375º for about 35 minutes.

They used to give nice big samples of this bread to visitors at the Family Center in Nauvoo, Il. The recipe card said that it was Sister Prince's recipe,I have made it a few times and it is worth the effort.
