2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 c. corn oil
3 c. diced apples
1 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Sift sugar, soda, flour, spices and salt together into mixing bowl. Add eggs, oil, and vanilla. Mix well. Add apples and nuts; stir until mixed. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 350º for 1 hour. Remove cake from oven and place in a heavy brown paper bag immediately. Close tightly and let stand until cool.

This is a recipe from my Aunt Judy, my father's sister. It has been my favorite birthday cake since I was an adult.
