2 cups flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup soft butter, 1/3 cup molasses, 1 large egg, 1/2 tsp soda, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/2 tsp ground cloves, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, "extra sugar."

Lightly grease cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 350. Sift dry ingredients, beat the egg, cream the sugars, blend well. Roll dough into balls abut 1 1/2" in diameter. (roll balls of dough in "extra sugar"). Flatten dough w/your hand and bake cookies for about 9 min. Let cookies "rest" on cookie sheet for 10 min. Remove and Eat...cookies will have "soft" texture.
