Sift together:
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt. (set dry ingredients aside to add later)
Blend together:
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar (cream well.)
Add:
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
Blend in the dry ingredients gradually, mix well.
1/2 C. moist coconut
1/2 C chopped nuts (blend well)

Drop dough by rounded teaspoons about 2 " apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375º for 10 minutes
