1/2 cup oil and/or sausage drippings
1/2 cup flour
1-2 tsp salt and pepper, to taste
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 lb sausage, (Jimmy Dean, mild)

Directions:
Directions:
Fry sausage, drain and set aside. Save drippings. Mix oil or drippings with flour in frying pan. Stir mixture constantly over HOT heat until browned (almost burned-necessary for brown gravy). Remove from stove, add water while whisking (to keep from lumping). Add evaporated milk and sausage, salt and pepper. Return to stove; simmer to desired thickness.
